Bylaws
1. The Whisky
- Whisky purchased for WhiskyHead shall only be enjoyed during WhiskyHead meetings and may be enjoyed at any subsequent meeting until the bottle is emptied, awarded to a member, or divided equally amongst its members
- Whisky purchased for WhiskyHead may be sampled in small quantities before the meeting to ensure a proper tasting order and profile notes
- Whisky may refer to other varieties of alcohol such as rum, tequila, and beer
2. The Meetings
- Meetings shall be held five times a year (in the months of January, March, May, September, and November), must always be informative and of a casual atmosphere, and will feature at least two bottles of whisky purchased with due money
- Meetings shall be held on a weekday and will promptly begin at 7:30pm and end at 9:00pm
- Meetings shall occur on a night that accommodates the schedule of membership majority who have RSVP’d to attend the meeting
- Meetings may be held at various locations, include field trips, and have a theme (region, taste, distillery, and cask type)
- Extra meetings may be added to the schedule should the opportunity arise
3. The Membership
- Membership lasts one full year (at least five meetings) and is not linked to attendance
- Membership starts and renews with a due of $60 cash
- Membership may have a member cap which is determined by the WhiskyHead president (currently 27)
- Membership dues are not refundable
4. The Members
- Members must be at least 21 years of age, always act responsibly during and after all meetings, and never partake in whisky snobbery
- Members may bring guests to meetings provided they pay a guest fee (determined by the president), have notified the president before the meeting day, and an attendance cap has not been reached
- Members may vote to relinquish membership rights of a current member who has acted in a way not becoming of a WhiskyHead member
- Members who have been relinquished or their membership rights may receive a partial refund which is determined by the WhiskyHead president
- Members absent at a meeting must relinquish their portion of whisky to all who attend but may obtain a sample from the president before the meeting if schedules allow
- Members must respond to emails sent by the WhiskyHead president in a timely manner for their vote or reservation to be counted
5. The President
- Is responsible for determining meeting locations, dates, purchasing WhiskyHead whisky, collecting due money, and running meetings
- May ask for volunteers to help with responsibilities
